The Very First

This might very well be my first piece of artwork made after i've enter AEP in VS, the very start of AEP for me. See that Mr Ong? This is therefore one of the most important pieces to me, since it signifies the start, which only occurs once. Although might seem very basic, since it is only shading, which are basics. This shows that basics are important, as basics are what we start learning from. WIthout basics, we would not be able to advance any further and learn under our great teacher Mr Ong. From the importance of basics, it can be seen that the process of creation, is an important one to be documented, thus relating to the theme of our blog.

1.2m Painting

This painting depicts the advancement of technology, where the whole environment has been transformed, becoming more artificial, which can be seen from the flat road, so as to convey the sense of flatness in terms of the dimension. The beam of light leads the viewer to the centre, with the light from the optical mouse functioning as both a ray of light from the light house, and the colour symbolising a red carpet, welcoming the viewer with open arms into the trap of technology. However there is also a glimpse of the true world, with the sun peeking over the dark clouds, suggesting a way to escape the grasp of technology, and return to reality.

Mr Ong

Our great teacher, Mr Ong, immortalised on the door.

The Exit

This is the exit. Where does it go? Nobody knows...

A New Beginning

The photo captures the whole theme of the website, since the idea is creation, a new beginning is depicted here. Just like a person who has started drawing, he begins a new life of art, and here, the bud gives the plant a new 'sub-life', where it has a chance to start off on a new direction and develop from there. Although surrounded by other leaves, it still has space to grow, and decide its orientation, and similarly, artists should care only about developing their own style, without being affected by those around him.

Creation

The choice of creation in relation to our blog, can be attributed to the fact that drawing blocks are the starting point of most children, sparking them off on their career of the creation of art works. As this is a great milestone in their life, it would be important to document such an event, so our theme would be central to this concept.

Am I Mr Ong?

With the wave of Singapore Idol sweeping over Singapore, it has been noticed that the individual called Patrick Khoo seems to have an uncanny resemblence to our teacher called Mr Ong. This has started many rumours, stating that he is just Mr Ong with a little make up, mainly comprising of a centre parting and slightly rounder specs. Another rumour is that the 'Banana Man' is Mr Ong in disguise, using the mask as a means to hide his identity.
